After years of preparations, the 2014 CSI Groundswell Conference is finally here!
We spent this week with the Christian Surfers International Leadership Team (ILT) in Costa Rica. The ILT is made up of the international director and the regional coordinator from each of the 6 CS regions. The men had great, productive meetings and surf sessions, and the wives had a blast getting to know each other, grocery shopping and cooking, and relaxing a little! Although we are all married to surfers, it was pretty funny to see how far we underestimated the amount of food they would need! In 4 days, 13-15 people at over 120 eggs and 120 bananas - not to mention all the other food we prepared! It was a great time of fellowship and encouragement, though, especially for me to get to know the other regional coordinators' wives. It was encouraging to share our stories, hear tips for dealing with our husbands' travel, laugh about our limited surfing abilities, and just be with a few ladies who "got" us.
Now we're at the conference location, and Dustin is now in meetings with the ILT, the CSI Board of Directors, and a few other key leaders. Tomorrow the council will meet. The council consists of the national director and one other representative from each affiliated nation, and the council is the highest governing body for CSI. Tomorrow is a big meeting, because they will be officially voting to approve the board's nomination for a new International Director!
