After a very busy summer and start of fall, my travel schedule is taking a break. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my job and being able to travel to these distant places supporting the gospel among surfers. I do however, miss home in the Dominican Republic while I am away. In September, I was able to attend a fundraiser in San Clemente, California while spending time with Roy Harley, our incoming International Director for Christian Surfers International from South Africa. I then met up with Emily in Florida to visit my family and new niece, Felicity Kate. She's adorable. We then flew up to Washington D.C. for Emily's sister's wedding which was great! We arrived back in the Dominican Republic on the 23rd of September after being gone about 3 weeks.
I just returned from a great trip this past weekend to Panama for their National Camp Out. It was a huge blessing to see someone receive salvation and numerous others rekindle their faith. The waves for the weekend weren't that good, but God knew what he was doing!
Needless to say - Feels great being home!
I have one more trip planned for the year and that is with a few guys from Christian Surfers Dominican Republic traveling over to our neighbor country of Haiti. Surfing is only just being introduced in Haiti and the Surf School in Jacmel that is leading the way has invited us to come and share with them. Despite being in the DR 6 years now, it will be my first time to go into Haiti. Please pray for our protection and for God to use us in great ways with our brothers there.
On the home front, it's been great volunteering at Emily's school once a week. I help in her classroom in the mornings and then I do maintenance stuff in the afternoons. Em has really been enjoying teaching second grade, though it definitely has it's challenges. I've also been able to spend a little more time with Christian Surfers locally too. Next weekend we have our 4th annual camp out. It's hard to think that we've been doing it for our fourth year now! Super excited to support the local guys in ministering to their surf community and being apart of it!
